From the Desk of Bjorn Kinding September 17th, 2010

Greetings from the Harrington Staff,

Fall is arriving here at College Harrington du Canada.  The leaves are beginning to fall, the air is becoming crisp, and the anticipation of hockey season is growing.
The students are all attending their classes and are becoming more familiar with the school routine, teacher requirements, and the discipline that is required to attend a school of this nature.
The staff is working very hard to make the transition for the students easier.
Some students adjust quickly and others require more time settle in.  Imagine, all of the sudden you have 100 new brothers living with you!  We are proud of the students and the commitment they are making.
Any time you have that many children in one environment, there will be challenges, but we deal with them one by one and use every challenge as a learning opportunity for the group.
School session is in full swing and the students should all have their textbooks in hand.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to order the textbooks that your child needs, please do so as quickly as possible.
We do have two staff changes that should be noted. Last Monday, Ms. Schiedel started her work as an English Teacher, in grade 10 and grade 11, and next week, she will also take on the duties as the French teacher (FSL) in grade 8 and grade 9. Ms. Schiedel is a graduate from McMaster University, and holds an additional B.Ed. from the University of Windsor and a minor in FSL. We welcome Ms. Schiedel onto our team, and look forward to many years of working together.
The other chance is that Ms. Lynd will no longer be working with the school and will no longer be living on campus.  Our new Health Resource staff is Ms. Laura Ivascu. Ms. Ivascu is a registred nurse, graduate from Collège Edouard-Montpetit, Longueuil, QC.
The health recourse administration will be handled by Mrs. Albini, so if you have any health related questions, please contact her either by email, d.albini@harringtoncollege.ca, or by phone, 450-415-0656.
The staff of College Harrington du Canada is excited, committed, and looking forward to the growth of our students.
Please make plans to attend our parents weekend, scheduled for November.
This will be a great weekend to visit, meet with teachers, talk with our staff, and have a good time mingling with the other parents.
Sincerely,
Bjorn Kinding
