Staff details

Patrick Boileau, NHL, AHL, CHL & DEL, Mr. Boileau played 13 years professionally. He was selected by the Washington Capitals in the third round, 69th overall in the 1993 NHL Entry draft.  Later traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 2002 and then the following year to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 2004 he played in Switzerland for Lausanne and in 2005 he moved to Germany to play for the Frankfurt Lions of the Deutsche Eishockey League and also played for the Hamburg Freezers.   He played a total of 879 games recording 450 points. Mr. boileau played 3 years (92-93, 93-94 and 94-95) for the Titan of Laval in the Quebec Junior Major League. In 1993 he was named on the All-Star Rookie team of the Canadian Hockey league (CHL). He also won in 1994 the Marcel Robert trophy (Quebec Scholastic Player) and the CHL Scholastic Player of the Year Award. He was drafted by the Washington Capitals from this team.

Jeff Crane, B.Sc., B. Ed., M.Sc., Mr. Crane, a graduate of Acadia University and Texas Women’s University, is an experienced coach and physical education instructor. Mr. Crane’s undergraduate degrees include minors in History and Geography and he holds two degrees in Kinesiology one of which is at the Master’s level. Mr. Crane has taught in three different schools and at two universities where he has served as both a T.A. and guest lecturer. Topics included: pedagogy, student assessment, growth and motor development. Mr. Crane has played and coached hockey, Track & Field and Rugby. He has played at the Division I level and has represented both his province and country in national and international competitions.

Martin Daoust, B.Ed., Mr. Daoust, a graduate of the Université du Québec – Montréal holds a major in Physical Education and a minor in Business. Mr. Daoust has been a teacher for 17 years with experience in the classroom almost as broad as his brilliant coaching career. Mr. Daoust will teach one section of seventh grade mathematics, an assignment that will allow him to remain connected to academic operations at the school. His primary responsibilities will be those of Director of Hockey Operations at Harrington and Coach of the College team. Mr. Daoust has a wealth of experience in the world of hockey and has served as Head Coach in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Junior (QMJHL) and in the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League. He has also worked with the Quebec National under 17 team as Head Coach and Assistant Coach. He was the Technical Director for the Quebec Midget AAA League and as coach, winner of the coveted Air Canada Cup (Telus Cup), the Canadian Midget AAA Championship.

Laura Davies, B.Sc., B.Ed., M.A., Mrs. Franks, a graduate of Queen’s University and McGill University, is an experienced school leader with broad experience in international settings. She has worked as Head of School and Assistant Head of School in two schools the Bahamas and as a senior math and science teacher in three different private schools in Canada.

Bjorn Kinding, B.A. & Sc., M.A., Mr. Kinding graduated from Umea University and Dalarna University, in Sweden. Born in Goteborg, Mr. Kinding has had a long and illustrious career that has straddled both the academic world and the hockey world. Mr. Kinding started his career as a high school teacher at Alvstrandsgymnasiet, in Hagfors, Sweden. From there, he moved into the field of ice hockey, where he served as a head coach at the European major pro level and the International level, including the Olympics. He has written numerous coaching manuals for top hockey organizations, including the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, Hockey Canada, USA Hockey, and the International Ice Hockey Federation. Mr. Kinding has been a frequent key note speaker at major international symposiums, around the world.

Hi wife, Lisa, is a four-time national figure skating champion of Sweden, who is presently coaching at the Royal Glenora Club, in Edmonton, AB. They have two daughters, Mikaela and Tiffany. The Kindings reside in Edmonton, AB, since 1998.

Bjorn Kinding is the third headmaster in Harrington College history.

Stephan Dube, B.A., B.Ed., NHL, Mr. Dube has trained many top NHL players including Sydney Crosby. Mr. Dube was the Strength and Conditioning coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2003 to 2007. He was also the Montreal Canadiens Strength and Conditioning coach from 1997 to 2001. With both clubs he evaluated players physical condition, planned and supervised their annual training program, prepared players for a return to play from injury, supervised nutrition and planned players meals and collaborated with player's agents. Mr. Dube has also trained players at the university level (NCAA & CIS) and at the Major Junior level (CHL) Mr. Dube and his players have won multiple championships and awards including the Memorial Cup, the Presidents Cup & the Jean-Rougeau trophy. Mr. Dube is a much sought after guest speaker for the NHL, universities, Junior Clubs and was a guest speaker for Hockey Canada at the historical Hockey Summit in 1999.

James Empringham, B.A., B.Ed., Mr. Empringham, a graduate of Lakehead University, McGill University and with further qualifications from Queens University and the University of Western Ontario, Mr. Empringham brings extensive classroom experience to Harrington. Not only a specialist in English literature and language arts, Mr. Empringham brings significant and relevant training and experience in history, French second language, drama and political science. Mr. Empringham is an experienced coach in soccer, baseball, swimming and track and field. Interestingly, he served as editor-in-Chief of the McGill Tribune where he managed a team of over 20+ editors and assumed a wide range of administrative duties. Mr. Empringham has traveled to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Pat Haney, B.A., Mr. Haney is a veteran coach with over 30 years of coaching experience. His teams have won many league championships and have attended several Quebec Provincial Championships at the Atom,Peewee and Bantam levels. In 1983 Mr. Haney guided his Atom BB team to victory in the Provincial Championship. Mr. Haney's other passion in sport is baseball where he has coached also for 30 years, winning numerous league championships in Mosquito and Peewee.

Kati Kemeny, B.A., M.A., Teacher Ms Kemeny, a graduate of Eotvos Loranfd University in Budapest, The National Academy of Drama and Cinema in Budapest and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis is Harrington’s resident expert in Theatre Arts. Ms. Kemeny has worked as both a film and television producer for CBS, NBC, ABC Hallmark, RH Productions, CAstlehill Productions and others. For the past 7 years, Ms. Kemeny has taught at two prestigious private schools in the Greater Montreal community. In addition, Ms. Kemeny holds advanced degrees in Russian and English literature and linguistics.

Eric Lecompte, NHL, AHL, IHL, CHL, DEL, Mr. Lecompte was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1993 NHL draft in the first round, 24th overall. Mr. Lecompte`s professional career spanned over 15 years, requiring him to live in six different countries including the USA, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and of course Canada. Mr. Lecompte created and managed a hockey specific development program that continues to train professional hockey players in the off season.

Megan McLeod, B.Sc., B.Ed., Teacher Ms. McLeod, a graduate of Mount St. Vincent University and Acadia University is trained as a Biology teacher, with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. She has, additionally enjoyed considerable experience and success as an ESL specialist in China and subsequently, as Head Teacher in a literacy program in Nova Scotia. Ms. McLeod is truly a renaissance person. She is active in many sports and outdoor activities including hiking, climbing, running and camping. In the sport of sprint canoe/kayak, she has coached and competed at national and international competitions for several years

Jacqueline Samperi Mangan received her BA from Concordia University double major in German literature and education, her MA from McGill University in applied linguistics and her Ph.D from McGill University, specializing in Swiss-Italian literature. She has served as coordinator of the Italian language and culture courses at the Université de Montréal and has taught for over twenty five years in various Canadian universities and colleges. Dr. Samperi worked in ministerial projects concerning multilingualism and has collaborated with the Montreal school commissions and with the Quebec ministry of foreign affairs. She has published numerous literary and linguistic articles and is active in new teaching technology research at the Université de Montréal were she is presently teaching. Dr. Samperi has also served as an officer on numerous boards and is the President of the Association of Professors of Italian in Quebec (APIQ). In addition, Dr. Samperi is a regular presenter at international conventions and recently delivered papers in Siena, Taormina, Colorado Springs, and Leuven. It is Dr. Samperi's first year at Harrington College of Canada were she teaches English literatures, drama and ethics.

Chuck McNeil B.A., B.Ed., Mr. MacNeil is a graduate of Memorial University and a 17 year veteran teacher of mathematics. Mr. MacNeil is also a commissioned (CD) officer in the Canadian Armed forces, who served for 14 years.

Marcel Mitrasca, B.A., B.Ed., M.A. (History), M.A., (International Politics, Economics and History) TESL Certificated, Teacher Mr. Matresca, a graduate of Babes-Bolyai University (Romania), Aoyama Gakuin University (Japan) and Concordia University (Montreal), brings over 10 years of teaching experience to Harrington and, most of that, at the secondary and college level. Among his many skills, Mr. Matresca is a specialist in Computer Assisted Learning and offers extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language. His formal training at university is in history, political science and education. He speaks and writes English and Romanian and has a strong working knowledge of Japanese and French.

Richard Nault, B.Sc., Teacher Mr. Nault, a graduate of the Université de Montréal with specialization in mathematics and Computer Technology comes to Harrington from a 30+ year career in Computer Software development. A scientist, a researcher and an entrepreneur, Mr. Nault has had extensive experience teaching Business Management and has worked also as a personal coach and a trainer of trainers in the I.T. field. Additional professional experience extends to the measurement and evaluation of Quebec’s Junior College student success rates and admissions standards. Mr Nault’s personal interests are as many as they are varied; he enjoys volleyball, mountain biking, sky-diving and has even attended the world scrabble championships.

Audrey Sargent, B.Ed. (Secondary Social Studies), Teacher Ms. Sargent, a graduate of McGill University, has experience at the secondary level teaching Social Science as well as Math, English and French. Her training and expertise with the New Quebec Ministry of Education Curriculum will be an asset to Harrington College. We are happy to welcome her to Harrington College.

Michel Valliere IHL, DEL, NCAA,Mr. Valliere brings a wealth of experience to the HCC goalie as he has not only played professional, but has also coached professionally.
